Color in vegetables is a sign of nutrition. Colorful vegetables are full of vitamins and micro-nutrients which can do well to the body. Try different color in every meal.

Be cautious in heating plastics. Not all plastics are safe to use in a microwave. Some containers are only good for single use in a microwave because they leak trace amounts of chemicals overtime. Never use a plastic container that is not labeled for microwave use. It is advised to use ceramic and glass for heating foods.

Consume Kiwi fruit, also called the Chinese gooseberry. This is known as the natural laxative since it is rich in fiber. It provides a lot of cardiovascular benefits and it is a natural blood thinner helping to prevent blood clots. Additionally, Kiwi fruit is full of potassium, Vitamin E and A. The skin of the fruit contains antioxidants and is safe to eat.

Track your diet, exercise and calorie intake. Make a listing in everything that could affect your diet and plan what to buy when you do shopping.

Try to balance omega-3 and omega-6. These are essential fatty acids. The body does not produce them, so the only way to get them is through diet. In a regular diet, there are more sources of omega-6 than omega-3. Refined vegetable oils, such as soy or canola, are used in most cookies, crackers, sweets and in fast foods which are rich in omega-6. The imbalance of omega-3 and omega-6 is the primary cause of increased inflammation in the body. Try to eat more foods rich in omega-3 if you love to eat junk foods.

Include strawberries in your diet. Strawberries have a lot of nutrients including fiber, vitamin C, potassium and calcium with very few calories. It is suggested to eat strawberries within two days from harvest to get maximum nutritional value. It is also important to store them in airtight containers to increase humidity and decrease air flow, keeping them fresh and nutritious.

Always have breakfast. Skipping breakfast could only make you eat more snacks throughout the day or consume too much during launch. Eating breakfast provides needed energy to start a day. If you want to lose weight, consume oatmeal, berries, diced fruit and yogurt during breakfast. (c) 2012
